Best Valentine Weekend – February 13th & 14th | Chicago Moms Network

Happy Valentine’s Day Weekend! This cold snap has us basically cozying up indoors all day long, so we’ll definitely be keeping this up all weekend . It’s the perfect weather to escape the house for some festive hot chocolate, heart pizza, and treats, and then go right right back to inside fun! I hope that you enjoy this weekend with your family!

Take your family on a date to the Art Institute (reopening weekend!)

The Art Institute of Chicago reopens on February 11th! Advanced ticket purchase is required, tickets can be purchased here. The Art Institute has implemented various Covid safety measures, including mask wearing and limited amenities. A full list can be found here. If you’d like to experience a bit of the Art Institute virtually and get in the Valentine’s Day spirit, join a virtual performance of love songs by by  musician, composer, and educator Zacbe Pichardo. He’ll be playing love songs for the Mexican harp, played alongside and in response to artwork from across the collection. Register here

Indulge in a curated gift box from The Chocolate Bar at Aster Hall

Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday this year, which means it’s the perfect opportunity to relax and indulge in a little self-care! “Disappear” from your family for a bit, take a hot bath (or just lock yourself in your room with a good movie!), and indulge in a gift box from The Chocolate Bar at Aster Hall! The gift box includes 2 La Marca Prosecco splits, 6 chocolate-covered strawberries, 2 decorated conversation cookies, and a blank Valentine’s Day Card. They also have a super cute sugar cookie decorating kit for the kids that you can snag to keep them occupied while you take your much deserved break. Order here

Bring home heart shaped pizza for a cozy Valentine’s celebration at home

We are actually going to make our own heart pizzas this year (my husband has perfected his pizza recipe over quarantine…he uses this crust recipe)! If you’d like to save yourself the clean up (and support a local business), there are a TON of heart shaped pizzas available for purchase this weekend. I’ll bet your favorite pizza place has them 🙂 Do 312 has a great roundup of lots of Chicago area pizzerias that are offering heart shaped pizzas, definitely check it out and plan ahead for long wait times to avoid disappointed kiddos!

Visit XO Marshmallow for hot cocoa and other Valentine’s treats

XO Marshmallow has the SWEETEST cafe (6977 N Sheridan Rd), and are open for pickup, delivery, and curbside pickup this weekend! From “love potion” hot cocoa (cherry dark hot cocoa topped with a marshmallow heart) to the “queen of hearts” (a frozen black cherry hot chocolate topped with gooey marshmallow, chocolate ganache, and a cherry cordial marshmallow), they have SO many options to make your Valentine’s weekend super special! I also have plans to do a Valentine’s Day “board” with lots of little cookies, candies, and fruit – and their heart shaped marshmallows will be the perfect showstopper to tie it all together!

Share the love and drop off a blanket at Bubbles for the Betsy’s Blanket Valentine’s Drive
